Arashiyama

Back in March a friend from Hiroshima visited me in Kyoto. It was the weekend were the cherry trees were on the cusp of blooming and we decided to visit Arashiyama, a spot in the western outskirts of Kyoto where people have gone to see the cherry blossoms or fall leaves since forever! (More like since about 800 AD)

It lies on the banks of the Katsura river, at the foot of a mountain (Arashiyama is really the name of that mountain), has glorious gardens, a world famous bamboo grove (just look at what Google gives you, when you type in Arashiyama. Gorgeous) and a classic bridge. What’s not to love!

Although we were just a day or so too early to see the full bloom, we had a great time.
