On the bus

I was sitting in the bus and looking out of the window when the bus came to a stop to pick up people. An old lady entered and took the seat in front of me. She got settled, reached into her bag, turned to me and handed me three Kaki fruit. She indicated with her hand waving in a circle over her handbag that she quite simply had bought too many of them and wanted to give me a gift. I thanked her, accepted the fruit and packed them into my bag. She turned away and when it was time for her to leave the bus, we looked at each other a last time and smiled.

  1. I remember you telling me about this! But I’d forgotten until I read this. It sounds like an interaction as lovely as it’s brief.
